i recentlly put a 96 motor in my 90 xj .got the motor for the junkyard and everything had been changed over we took the motor out of an 89 turns out the motor was a 96,the flywheel was cracked on the 96 motor so i put the 90 flexplate on the new motor starts runs and idles fine..when given gas it pops cracks like it is outta time .....is this my problems are the 2 flywheels different...im ready to run it over with my monster s10 on 44's PLEASE HELP i love my jeep!! thanks Scottie any help will be greatly appreciated!:f urious:

 

Did everything get connected from the 96 to 90 swap. censers, maps, modules ext. all will need connected to computer to properly operate. may even have to install 96 computer don't no for shore

 

No you would want to run all the 1990 sensors and plugs. on the new junkyard motor as far as the flywheel is I think it should be the same cause renix was up till 1990 I think this will have to be double checked for sure,but you need to run all the 1990 sensors and plugs on the 1996 block.

 

someone already changed all the intake distributer and all the bells and whistles it ran fine in the 89 all i did is change the flexplate and put it in now idels fine wont accelerate pops and craks like its outa time

 

the motor had already been convertied over all i changed was the flexplate

 

that could be the problem. i think the cps changed a bit between renix/chryco.

new cps the old one had broken wire on on side so 90xj 96 ho complet so i rewarded my self with 91 xj today
