puddle of water on driver side floor
so it rained all night last night and i got in my jeep to go to school this morning and there was a puddle (half and inch deep) on the floor pan in front of the driver seat. not having the time to discover where it was coming from i just toweled it up and went to school. After school when i got in it was full of water once again. i sat there for a good 5 minutes looking for leaks but couldnt find any. could the water be coming through the floor? would the water then just go right out the hole it came in? its a brand new windshield, not even a month old so i dont think thats it.
any ideas of what it could be?
thanks,
joma

did it leak before the windshield install or no?
if no, then d00d that is most likely it. It can be pretty tough to find water leaks like those. its not the floor or yes it would have run back out and it also would have been a puddle before you got out (after driving) as well. To find that leak you might have to do a lot of looking around with a flashlight. It could be leaking and running behind the carpet/firewall insulation and that would be why you didnt see it. To have that much water though, should be pretty easy to find the leak if you employ a water hose and a friend

mine and my buddys xj's both get water on the driver floor from time to time and its random i would def look into the windshield since that just got changed but weve both had the same windshield the whole time ours seem to leak down from behind the dash and run out below and down the tranny tunnel on to the driver side floor we were thinking it might be coming from cowl area between the hood and windshield

i've had the same issue before as a result of a crappy door seal at the a-pillar.... water just doesn't channel right and ends up following the structure line along your kick panel and ends up on the floor.... go through a drive through car wash and watch your driver door seal

If it just started, and you just got a windshield, that's where I'd put my money.
Go through a car wash. You'll find a leak in no time.

welp the new windshield is whats leaking. did the hose test today. kinda happy i found out what it was but pissed off at the same time since its a brand new windshield. called the shop up and they said they would fix it for free. i have the carpet ripped up now to dry and i primed the floor to paint it (surface rust was forming). when i was tearing apart the carpet i noticed a plug on a hole that appears to be a drain, is it okay to drive with this seal out?
thanks,

They work for draining. But if you take it out then water can splash up through it. That's how I found my floor had rotted thru. Driving on wet pavement left wet spots on the carpet.

would putting a little hole in the grommit so water can go out be better then just having that massive hole there for water to come up through? make it easier for water to go out than to come back up through
