I didn't say that PTFE (known as Teflon when made by DuPont) isn't in any oil additives. There are shelves full of the stuff. I asked what the source was claiming that synthetic oil is based on PTFE re: "The petroleum based and the PTFE (synthetic) oils today"
If there is an engine oil based on PTFE, one would probably steer clear of it. Mobil 1 isn't and that is all I have used since at least 1996.

Here is what DuPont has to say about putting PTFE in your engine:
On February 1, 1980, Du Pont issued a press release which stated in its entirety:
WILMINGTON, Del., Feb. 1The Du Pont Company today announced it will immediately discontinue supplying its "Teflon" fluorocarbon resins or untrademarked fluorocarbon micropowder for use as ingredients in oil additives or oils for lubricating internal combustion engines.
The decision was reached after a review of data available within the Company and from outside sources showed, in Du Pont's opinion, that these resins are not useful in such products.
During the past several years, numerous oil additives or engine treatment products have been introduced in the United States and abroad. Promotion for some of these products claims improved engine performance, increased fuel economy and reduced emissions, citing Du Pont's "Teflon" fluorocarbon resin as the active agent.
As the number of oil additives products has increased, so have the inquiries Du Pont has received as to the utility of "Teflon" resins in such applications. The Company gathered data from within the Company and outside sources to assess the claims regarding "Teflon" fluorocarbon resins."Teflon" is Du Pont's trademark for its polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) products.

I just go with the information available and make no such assumptions about it. If it's marketed to the automotive industry as beneficial then I tend to trust but verify without the need to make blanket statements for or against something.

Regarding the high-mileage oil of today's blends, this article basically clears up the question about Zink content and elaborates about its benefits. It isn't the only thing in print available on the topic. It's just one that I read among others.

I really had no intentions of stirring up a cauldron of posturing about oil, which seems to be pretty childish at this point. It's just a thread about something I'm reading about in an attempt to learn what will be most beneficial to an engine I'd like to keep in good order for some time to come. I have not read this entire thread. I walked in on the bottom side to see what twist the topic took and am pretty disappointed in the sand box maturity it fostered...about freaking oil, nonetheless.
And locked in 3...2...1...

PS. zinc

just wait and see what happens. It never fails. If politics could be any part of a car, it would be the engines oil for sure.

Would like to see a good reference from the OP on the claim that synthetic oil is based on Teflon (PTFE).

PD5000 That's some 2020 scat right there. I guess there is still the 15w40 still at what 1100?

They don't show a 15W40. Their 10W40 Racing 4T at 1300 zinc, p 5. Turbo Diesel Truck 5W40 is 1300 zinc, p4. 15W50 is 1300 zinc also, p3
