Problems after lifter change
Hello everyone. I could def use some help. I am hoping this is a quick fix. I replace the lifters, head gasket, spark plugs, cap and rotor. Jeep started up fine. No more lifter noise. Drove it for about 2 hours and I felt that the jeep wouldn't shift into 5th (auto) and now the jeep at idle is increasing in revs to 3k. I shut it off and turn back on still same problem. I checked the codes and now I'm having p0123 tps and p0700 transmission fault present. As I accelerate the jeep studders
Need some help please!!!!

A quick search turned some info on clock spring connection (under steering wheel) and potential impact on TPS (same symptoms as those you describe). Several disconnected it and symptoms went away. Sorry, not really a diagnosis or any help to do so...google p0123 and you will see what turns up.

The TPS does feed its voltage (Thottle position) signals to the TCM, and if corrupted will cause shifting problems and, as a result, your P0700 code.
I suspect that when you did all that work the TPS was damaged or the connector was not installed securely, or that a pin was bent when installing the connector.
You should detach the TPS connector and examine the pins and pin cavities, and if okay, test the TPS to see if it functions properly.
