problem need quick answer please
first off, hi im dustin i have a 99 xj 2wd and love it, 2wd and still gets through **** that 4wd dont.
heres the problem.
at idle the rpms will drop down to less then 400 and almost bogs out before it picks back up, when i hit the gas it stutters, but the rpms go up but i dont hear the engine speed up and i dont gain any speed, then once i get to speed the same thing happens, its not a constant thing it just does it randomly. ive been told its either the torque converter or the fuel pump/filter
what do you guys think

Check your TB, and make sure its all clean, air filter is clean, to drop to almost stall could be the TC, but check the simple easy things first....
RPMs feed of the computer/dizzy so the motor should make a rev sound when you see a rise in RPM....

so check the tb, make sure its clean. air filter is new, spark plugs and wires are new, but could the throttle body really be the cause of this? its getting worse, i thought that maybe it was the fuel pump/filter was clogged because i had to run it almost empty, could this be the reason?

Check the tps sensor and the iac, there on the throttle body. My tps went south awile back and wounldn't idle other than right after it was cranked. Also I'd replace that fuel filter, cheap to replace so worth a try.
ok, so i talked to a few buddies that are mechanics and they said, check the 02 sensors and we also hooked it up to their diagnostics computer and it rang up saying bad o2 sensor, im going to pull it out and check to see if i can clean it. if not i have to order one and the cheapest im finding in on rock auto for 33 bucks. anyone got a cheaper site for parts like this? i will also be doing a r&r on the throttle body, running fuel treatment and injector cleaner though the system in the next few days. i need to get this jeep fixed because it do handyman work and its my mode of transportation for work lol i got a 93 acura integra but im not hauling a riding mower, or a welder, or a table saw or anything like that in an integra so i need all the advice i can get, you better believe if it makes sense its getting done lol fuel pump and filter im holding off on because thats 150 bucks out of my pocket if the jeeps down for 1 day, gas tank could cost me a lot if im missing a part.
will be replaceing the tps, as well as a tranny flush, your going to laugh at me but where is the tranny filter? lol and the fuel filter isnt cheap either, in my jeep its an in-tank filter

o2 sensors cant be repaired but they can be cleaned. but if their shot and not dirty then you are correct, they can not be fixed, have to be replaced. could the o2 sensors cause random loss of power with the rpms still rising?
