Not certain I am loading the pic properly here. If it loads then can someone tell me what is going on here with the little screw in the little vacuum line? It was installed by p.o. . The Jeep passed smog check like this, so i assume this is not a major concern. Just don't know if they line was broken accidentally and they put a screw to stop vac leak. Or is there a master design trick here?

Yeah, looks like they broke the line so they plugged it with the screw. Not a very observant inspector, huh?

Exactly, but i am wondering what the lines are so that i can replace them. I don't think i can splice the thing together. LOL

The Haynes manual refers to an air injection valve, but provides no pics. I'm thinking that is what we are looking at that the hoses are connected to.

I wonder if it's supposed to be like an idle assist deal...

The vacuum line that is cut runs from left side engine around the front side of the firewall and connects to this grey canister thing mounted below my heater core hoses and next to the oil filter. Spotlight kind of glares it out, but, that should give us a clue what the line is if we can ID that thing. Best i come up with is air injection valve, but i cannot find any backup info about that other than Haynes who started the rumor I guess. LOL
