problem but not crazy...
Im thinking its a problem that most jeeps have but... I have a manual, I6, 88, with 160, 000 miles on it...-
This morning woke up to go to work, and no start... my gas guage doesn't work so I used my back up gas tank and filled the jeep at least 4 or 5 gallons... nothing
I checked all the fuses in the jeep its fine...
Went to the starter and checked it out and even cleaned it so there wasn't dirt on it, nothing so I did the cuban thing and smacked the starter with a hammer a couple of times to see if that would do anything nothing -.-
The car can go into ignition, and I can hear the starter trying but its not turning over ( I think that's the term)
Open to suggestions... I took the day off so technically its jeep time now

Battery good?
Not entirely sure what you mean : Does is 'crank' but wont start, or is the starter just very slow?

Hmm. I'd take a look into your starter a little more. Also if you have the tool test your battery and alternator. I know you have power now but start with electric, then move to fuel and air.

Sounds weird but tap your cps LIGHTLY with a screw driver. Happened to me a couple times, tapped it a few times and started up. But that could also mean it's going bad. But def check all electrical first before you get into that. Check your terminals on the battery, check where the positive goes to the starter(the connection), same with alternator.

Any corrosion on the battery terminals? I had a no start situation because of that.
Like others posted, check battery, alt, starter, and clean some grounds while your at it
If that all doesn't work got to google and type in "cruiser54 mostly renix tips"
Go ahead and do ALL of them over a weekend or something. It will save you a headache in the future, good luck

To help you explain future problems:
No Crank= Engine/Motor not turning over
No Start= Engine/Motor not running
No Crank No Start= Neither of the above happen (Click Click, or absolutely nothing)
Common easy to test to an extent issues
Battery- Dead/Bad/loose or dirty connection
Starter- Bad/Loose or dirty connection
NSS (Netural Saftey Switch)-Automatic Transmission- Dirty/bad, Quick check that works sometimes put in neatural and see if it will crank. If it does its the NSS, If no it could still be that but its just a quick way to check.
Clutch Interlock switch- On a Manual- Bypass it or fix it
There are many other possible less common reasons
Crank, No Start= Engine/Motor turning over but not actually running
Fuel pump- Do you have fuel in jeep? Do you hear pump priming with turning on ignition before trying to crank? Do you have fuel pressure? Check with gauge
CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor)- Loose/Dirty/Damaged/Bad. Test with OHM meter
However there are many different reasons for Crank, No Start those are just to of the most common.

Anyways... I think I have a fuel... or fuel/ air mixture problem
As much as I did take everyone's advice I can't just stand around doing nothing, so I started to recheck fuses... looked at relays under the hood... any air lines and still it was nothing, checked spark plugs and wires... nothing -.-
A friend walt or 88whitecomanche gave me the idea of disconnecting the fuel line to the rail see if that's clogged and it was fine, reinstalled it and tried it again and bam! Jeep is alive... so I'm thinking now maybe it could be the fuel pump, not enough pressure?
