Default Pre 96 VS 97 plus

So we all know that dreaded interior rattle of all the panels of the cherokees from 84 -96 i have been researching the cherokee xj and found out what they did between the years since 1984. and was wondering that i have had two jeeps a 89 and my current one a 96. now the interior stayed the same from 84 to 96 then you have the awkward preteen faze 97 then 98-01 now my question is for the cherokee lovers that have had both style jeeps pre 96 and 98+ and was wondering if you guys could tell me if that changes they made to the interior for the 98+ actually worked and kept the cab quiet from the rattle? The reason i ask is because my girl has a 99 grand cherokee and that thing is like a sound booth xD, and i was wondering if they incorperated the same concept into the 98+ XJ's

97 = best. Facelift, late model interior with the 96 powertrain setup(besides new style tranny connectors), old style door hinges, HP D30 with beefier u-joints and with 29 spline 8.25 for rear, FULL length roof rails, new style cooling aux fan, interior is much quieter imo. But its a little bit heavier.

99 they lost full length roof rails, new style stamp steel door hinges start or 0331 heads with stricter emissions, and went to low pinion into mid year

In mid 99 the exhaust, 0331 head and other crap was introduced.

I say early 1999s were the best of all.

My '96 has no interior rattles. Not one. I hate squeaks and rattles so I fix that stuff when it works loose or wears. I don't know that 96 and earlier XJ's had inherent rattle problems? More likely just age related stuff.

Mine's an 89 with 235k and had me and my two siblings in it for most of it's life. The interior is in great shape for being 23 years old, but it rattles like all hell, haha. I definitely wish it was a little quieter, but I can deal with it. My exhaust doesn't help much either. That makes everything rattle even more

I got a question regarding the trim levels on that link. This is for anybody to answer. Is the sport a higher package than limited? Because I have a lot more to my limited than a sport comes with, but the site lists sport over limited. I'm just curious.
