Default Powertrax or Aussie locker for me?

I am like 90% on road, 10% off. But my off road time will increase once I get a lift. I want one that will not change my Jeeps road manners too much and is easier to install.

What would you recommend?

I ran a Powertrax No-Slip in my 8.25. Loved it!! Yes it's more expensive than the Aussie but it's also quieter and proven itself to more than a few wheelers. If I were in the market for another lunch-box locker I wouldn'T even consider any other brand.

Will this be safe for icy/snowy roads? Where I live we get them a lot. And I am a young driver.

Just be careful. Its different but not necessarily dangerous. Ive got an Aussie in mine. It just takes some getting used to.

i have the no slip powertrax. seems to be working amazing!!! just went snow wheeling today and drove in a snow storm. it is obviously different to get used to it than a one wheel wonder. but works good. not hard to get used to. i also am about 80 on road and 20 off.

I am also considering a locker. How hard are they to put in? Is the difficulty comparable to a sye? Need special tools or anything? I saw the Aussie somewhere for like $300 which suprised me.

Relatively easy as long as you follow the instructions to the T.

in my opinion, the Aussie is way better than the powertrax. it seems to be designed better and able to take more abuse.

???
The 8.25" Aussie has only been out for a couple of months at the most and the PowerTrax No-Slip has been around for many years. There's no hard data to support your opinion sir.

You can also get an OX locker, similar to ARB.. but its cable activated, not air.

That's not a negative thing. The OX's main advantage is that it can be manually engaged at the diff if something is wrong with the rest of the system. With the ARB if something goes wrong with compressor or lines running to or from it the ARB will not engage. However, the ARB can be engaged while moving safely. An OX locker can only be engaged while your sitting still.

Incorrect info Skippy. Had one on my old axle (D30) and you can engage on the fly. Not at high speeds, but on the trail is fine.

From what i've heard/read the only real difference between the powertrax and the aussi is that the powertrax is quieter
