power wire for amp
I dont even have a stereo, and I wouldnt say an 87 XJ is modern lol.
I know the holes are factory, whats the diameter of zero gauge?
Dang, I was about to go look, but I forgot I rode today, no XJ at work! :/

Yeah, your right. You win. There are absolutely ZERO holes to bea found and used under the dash. You MUST cut new ones for anything that needs to be run through the firewall.

I've been all over the firewall in my 90 and its sealed besides that little space by the vacuum lines. Maybe there are in yours (wiring is a little different) but not in mine.

I can second what Gee is saying here. On my 89' there is a hole sort of underneath the coolant tank near the purge tank... It ran it right through to the top of the passenger side footwell. It is plenty big enough for 0 gauge;however, i can't confirm whether or not the wire will fit under the trim to go to the back.

I have 2 4 gauge wires, and about 8-9 14 gauge wires along with a coax for CB antenna going through the grommit that the wiring harness goes through... Just take a knife and make a new hole in it, will fit all the wires you need.
Oh and BTW, that grommit that the harness goes through is RUBBER so it stretches pretty easily.. I ran my original 2 gauge through with the harness and could have easily fit 0 gauge.

That's the hole I was talking about earlier with hvac vacuum lines going through. With the grommet intact it is very difficult to fit 8 gauge or larger wire through it. 0 gauge no freakin way. Most primary battery cables are 0 or 2 gauge... Think that will fit?

Thats not the same hole. The grommit im speaking of has ONLY the stock wiring harness running though it. And i DID put 2 gauge through mine, as i said its made of rubber.. if you want it to stretch it'll stretch.
