So both the windows on the drivers side (front and back) work from the drivers switch panal only. but none of the passenger side windows will go up or down. Also the power locks only work from the drivers swich. I've replaced all the switches and the only thing that happend is the passenger side door lock switch stopped working after a few days. I know the motors for the windows work. Any one know what can cause some windows to work and others not? Let me know.

Fuses.
Also slide the rubber boot where the wires pass through between the body and door, check wires in there, they tend to break from opening and closing the doors over the years.

Strip them back, solder, and either heatshrink or electrical tape over them. I just cut off about 6 inches of wire and put new wire in that could withstand the bending constantly.
when I was suffering this problem on my 2000xj, I removed the entire wiring harness from both front doors and checked the wires for continuity, replaced/repaired the broken wires, removed the old speaker wires and added upgraded ones, then re-taped/heat shrunk the harnesses.

I dont have a sottoring gun so I used butt connectors and some wire. I noticed that some of the wires were ready to break so I did all the wires instead of just the broken ones.
Now the problem is I blow a fuse when I use the pasenger door lock switch. The switch is good on the passenger side and there are no spots where the wires ground, I checked every bit. Im thinking its the switch on the drivers door has a short because the wires are all good. Could this be it or is there a relay that would do this.

It would be very easy to find the problem with a voltmeter. If you have one and know how to use it that is... I'm in the middle of an automotive electrical class and it has helped me tremendously with working on my XJ.
