Default Power Window Not Working.. and it's pouring!!!

I'm sure my answer is already here somewhere- my search pulled up alot but I couldn't quite find an answer.

01 XJ- my passenger side window has been working on and off by using driver side controls. The passenger door control has not been working at all. Finally today, before a massive thunderstorm, it has totally stopped working. The window is stuck all the way down. I don't know a hell of a lot about these power windows. The old XJ had the windups (wish I still had them). Is the problem likely to be a blown motor? I also read some about a regulator- I'm gonna pull out the Haynes manual and look into it. Any tips are appreciated.

More than likely it's the window regulator, I had mine go out on a rainy day too.

Mine do that every now and then. I usually just clean the window lock connections on the drivers door. I'm not familar with your year of Cherokee though. On a 1987 I had the wiring under the drivers side floor mat wear through and that caused the passenger window to not work.

Yake the panel off the doors and put the window up, BY HAND. Then see if issue is regulator or electical. I vote, electric, since it is affecting more than 1 window. Start with the drivers side swich then ALL connections between there and the rest of the windows and doors, including the rear hatch. Best bet is the problem is the drivers door though.

Thanks everybody. It's got a mind of it's own. I got it to go up through the driver side control, and I'll be taking off the door panel and getting to work on it next weekend. I have to work graveyards all week. I'll post my findings. Thanks again

Same thing happened to me all Windows don't work anymore ,you would think it would b recalled or something due to the fact that most xjs have poor wiring

Rusty widow regulator and or track. Easiest to just buy new and replace the whole thing, it didn't break the glass did it?
