Hi All! I have an '88 XJ that I've put a lot of work into over the last 4-5 years. I've used this site for advice for years, but this is my first time posting. I've been able to get most everything worked out on the Jeep, but the power windows/locks are plaguing me. There is some sort of an electrical issue related to a power drop that keeps the doors from locking and unlocking properly. The locks on the passenger doors make a sound and will move a bit when you click the lock button on the driver's side door, but there doesn't appear to be enough power to actually lock and unlock the doors. Is there a quick fix here? Also the driver's side window is pretty sticky going up and down. I have replaced the window motor and the seal that runs the full length of the door with little success. Is this usually a seal issue? Maybe need to replace the seal that runs along the bottom of the window where it meets the door? Thanks in advance or the suggestions!

The mod in the link below will fix your locks. Greg Smith also has a mod for the windows, but it was too much for me, and mine work pretty good. I did clean all the contacts on the switches and I found a NOS drivers door switch panel. At the bottom of the first post is the specifics to the mod. Throughout the thread he elaborates on how power routes through the switches. If you do an internet search on Greg Smith Jeep Cherokee power door lock mod you will find pictures and diagrams of the mod. I mounted mine to a plate and attached behind the right side kick panel under the dash.
