Default Power Trans switch??

Ok so I have been searching everywhere and don't understand what this is? I have an 89 4.0l6 with an automatic. I have a toggle switch that says for power or for comfort or what not. What the heck is this for???

Default I wonder as well

I have wondered the same thing! Messing around with mine, it seems to shift a little later while in power mode.

It does hold shift times in power mode. For what it's worth, this switch was done away with (I don't know what year), and the Power shift configuration is the standard now. So, stick it in Power and be done if you want. I think Comfort was supposed to shift a little easier and increase mpg, though I don't know how much difference it actually made.

so you put it in "power" position when you reach peak speeds? i guess it's of no use to me cause rig never sees peak speed.

All it does is change shift points. the power mode is for just that. the comfort mode was supposed to increase gas milage and comfort but i guess it was more of a joke than anything.

When I'm running around town or just driving around up in the woods. I run it in comfort. When I want to get someplace right now or am on the freeway I switch to power.
