Default Power steering squealling

I have a stock 2000 cherokee and sometimes when i start it up or when im driving there will be a loud squealing noise coming out of the power steering does anyone know what it is Please !!

i checked it, changed it, and i check it regularally, it stopper a while after i changed it but it started up again

change your belt or check your tension ?

it is a newer belt so i dont think thatd be it, and how do you check the tension

well if its loose?? then the tensioner may be bad... id get a good year getor back belt ... FTW!

the belt will move about 1/2 of an inch in and out, ill probably need to take it to the shop and get them to look at it

power steering doesnt sqeak, it growls. if its a high pitched squeak it isnt the PS.

does it whine when making turns or just sitting still? I had a pump that made noise at idle and turning...the pump was weak and a replacement from the JY cured it.

I got a new mechanic!
He says that i need a new pump.
Will the pump off of a '97 work?
