Default Power Steering Return Hose Install

I can’t for the life of me seem to get the power steering return hose on my 99 to start threading. Has anyone else experienced this? I was replacing a blown high pressure hose which went in without any issues, but this return hose just doesn’t want to thread. Any pointers?

Should I leave the cap off of the power steering pump when I turn the steering wheel to work the air bubbles out? And should I have the front end jacked up while I do that? Thanks!

Those stupid power steering lines do suck. There is just so much room down there....

I would get the front wheels off the ground and leave the cap off. Makes it a bit easier.
