Power steering pump is leaking but not visible from where. The high pressure line is good and the line at the reservoir is also dry. I am assuming that it is leaking at the o-ring where the reservoir meets the pump. Is this common? There is really no where else it could be from right? I don't want to buy a whole new pump if its just the o-ring there. Any thoughts or past experiences would help. Thanks. I did a lot of searching so please no comments about doing a search. LOL! THX

You say it's leaking because there's fluid all over the pump, or the reservoir is low? If fluid is all over the pump, clean it well, then run it for a few minutes, you should see where it leaks then. If it's just the tank is getting low, it could be leaking at the rack, yes?

Yes, the o-ring can leak. I had this problem. I ended going to a local shop that builds hydraulic lines and buying a couple from them. You 'can't use a regular o-ring there but if it isn't made for the fluid and higher pressure, it may start leaking again after a bit.

I pulled the pump out. It turns out it was leaking at the connection of reservoir to the pump. Instead of just replacing that I just got a whole new/re manufactured pump with the reservoir and a new pulley for under $100 for peace of mind. Put a new serp belt on while I had it loose as well.
