Default Power Steering Hose Replacement, just checking...

I have the part, the time, the tools, and basic ability. It's the high pressure hose ( as you look at your power steering pump, the hose on the left sore that runs down ) that I am replacing due to a leak.

It is a 1993 XJ Country, 4.0. I am just making sure it is as simple to replace as it seems. Any tips for accessing it? Any tips in general? How do I re fill the fluid, just do it or anything special?

Also, misfire, knock, and the 45mph shake fixed! Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, and an oil change. The XJ runs perfect now! Just needs an alignment and two new front tires, and of course this hose installed. :-D

remove air cleaner assembly.
TAKE PICTURES OF CONNECTION AT STEERING GEAR BEFORE YOU BEGIN.
remove replace.
if you want to replace fluid while you are at this great. otherwise no big deal.

Good Luck

when i replaced my steering box itself I had to remove the air cleaner, and it helped to take the front clip off. That said loosening the steering box and allowing it to move around thus allowing a little more space. I would recommend getting actual line wrenches to do the work. They help prevent rounding out the nuts for the hoses. The plastic plugs that come in the hose when you buy them new should be used to to "stop" the loss of fluid. Otherwise get a two liter bottle and undo the hose at the box and allow it to drain into the two liter bottle. Bleeding the air out of the box is easy, with the engine running and the front tires on loose terrain and slowly turn the wheel lock to lock in either direction. Doing this with the cap off the pump will allow the air bubbles to come out. GO SLOW WHEN DOING THIS. If you go to fast then you can damage the little orifices and needles inside the box.
If I remember right it was either a 15mm or an 18mm wrench.

get a small pipe cutter and cut the metal part of the hose right at the nut and use a socket to get it off, then use a open end or a plumbers wrench to put it back on... it's tough but if you have someone to help they can get underneath and push up on the radiator hose to give you a little more leverage putting it back on. its hard to get the threads started without a little help
