there should be one on each side of that shaft, one on the box, the other in the cab at the base of the steering column

ok looks like a to do list for tomorrow. take the drag link off the pitmen arm and feel for binding, right? and the little u joints in the steering need disconnected and checked for slop? sorry im not to educated with steering parts

problem found! turns out to be its the u joints in the steering shaft. i sprayed half a can of pb plaster on both. its freed up for now how do i go about replacing them?
