I'm about to change the power steering fluid in my 98'

What kind and how much do I need to buy?

I wanted to get some Lucas Power Steering Fluid #LUC 10442 @Napa. I Didn't know if power steering fluid is specific.

How many bottle do I buy?

 

Unless you have any issues with your PS pump or any seals, any PS fluid will work fine.

Many just use Dexron III transmission fluid without a problem. I've used it for years and nothing has happened.

If you go the PS fluid route...get two pint bottles. Takes away the need to go back if you are finding yourself short. If not...you can always return the unopened bottle.

Dexron III route...1 qt bottle. More than enough plus you can check your trans level too while you have the bottle out.


P.S. 1 qt of Dexron III is cheaper than 1 pt bottle of PS fluid.

 

i just use plain-jane power steering fluid from the local auto stare, and a little bit of Lucas PS Sop Leak just to help keep things nice.
