Power steering ???

Question Power steering ???

i have a 1994 cherokee 4.0 UK model as i live in England.My steering has developed a kind of notchy kick back feeling even at low speeds on smooth roads/Cant see any leaks power steering fluid
is up to level and pump belt is tight.Not sure if it is a mechanical fault or something hydraulic.
any help would be great.

Dave,

Sounds like your power steering pump is about worn out. It is a hydaulic reaction you are feeling. You intermitently losing the hydraulic assist from your power steering pump.

Yep pump sounds like the culprit. I am actually about to replace my gear box and pump soon for the same reasons.
