Default Power seat not working (1998 Cherokee Limited)

I have a 1998 Cherokee Limited and my drivers power seat is not functioning at all. No movement, no sound from the motor. I bought it like this and I'm a little clueless on how to fix it.

Are there any semi-simple things I could look at first that may be the culprit? Thanks!

take the connector off of the bottom and stick 2 alligator clips on the connector.... or 2 paper clips in the slots (i cant remember how it went) and put power to it and see if it works. If it does then maybe its a bad fuse which is under the passenger side fuse panel but if nothing then check the wires under the carpet maybe rusted on the grounds or the wire is broken somewhere.
