power locks problems
I have a 2001 jeep cherokee. Since I got the jeep the front passenger lock would sometimes not lock and I would have to lock it manually. All the other locks would work when I locked it. Sometimes it locks, sometimes it gets stuck or doesn't lock all the way. Recently at times when I would lock the jeep (hearing the horn when I lock it) all the locks wouldn't move. The next day it would be perfectly normal. It's hit or miss. Also the rear hatch doesn't lock at all when I lock/unlock the car at all. Can someone help me please its getting really annoying having to check each lock before I leave the jeep!

This is what I did last week. I started having an intermittent issue where when I tred to lock it from the door switch or fob, it would just make a click noise on the passenger side. I took out the passenger side door module, took it apart to get to the circuit board. I immediately noticed that the solder connections on some were cracked. Very slight and almost unnoticeable to the untrained eye. Take a soldering iron and a desoldering tool. Heat up the broken connection and suck up the old solder. Resolder the connection with standard 60/40 rosin core. You can get away with just heating up each point and rejoining the two cracked joints which is what I did, but I did notice that some of them would not seat to the board so I just used new solder. Seems when they assembled them in Mexico, them beaners used **** poor solder with **** rosin or no rosin at all.

I don't know how the jeep guys do it (no power options here), but I have had the solenoid/actuators/vac-pots go out on other cars I have worked on. It might work when you bench test it, but it doesn't have the oompf to push the locking mechanism anymore
