My 94 cherokee was overheating....was empty....your pour anti freeze in..it pours right back out from under water pump by the gasket at the front of pan....Is it the water pump?..no water in oil on dipstick...didnt see any leak at freeze plug...just pour in...right back out steady stream..coolant color no discolor...tks

 

probably either the water pump seal or the gasket. May as well change both as long as you're pulling the pump.

 

Last time my water pump failed it cut a line in th housing and as soon as i poured water in to get home it came right back out. The pully lose at all?

 

little play in it......as soon as you pour water in it pours right back out..right under pulley by water pump that comes down by the front of pan..infact when I move the gasket by the pan is when it a steady stream..theres no water in oil on dipstick...no milky around oil cap...thats my biggest fear is a blown head gasket or cracked block

 

Doesn't sound like a head gasket and you have to work overtime to crack a 4.0 block. Those things are stout.
The water pump OTOH is a consumable more or less. They wear out.
