You're sporting a lift and bigger tires. Your gas mileage is going to suffer. You're in the right range for gas mileage. I believe your XJ has a 20 gallon tank. If you're getting 200 miles on a 20 gal tank, that's 10mpg. If it is a 15 gal tank and you're getting 200 miles, that's 13.3 mpg...which is about right for a lifted/big tired vehicle. It looks like other members have led you down the right path, so welcome to the CF, keep us updated on your XJ and enjoy the site! By the way, I'm getting about 15 on stock tires/lift with my '00 XJ...I'm going to clean the TB out this week when it's warm.

u get an idea though im sure if u bought better parts it would get u better mileage. AFE cold air or Banks. poweraid throttle body spacer. replace the whole exhaust from headers to tip. plugs wires cap distributor coil.

That's correct. The speedo errs 19.13% on 33s versus stock, which is 27.7". So, add 1/5 to your gas mileage, which is, at an observed 11 mpg, 13.2 mpg. Still not very good, tho. The lift adds some negative aerodynamics, too. O2 sensors can be borderline bad, without throwing a CEL. Rule of thumb is around 100k miles for them. Check, if your brakes are dragging. CAI, if done properly, increases performance, but not fuel economy. Just some things to consider...

If you have 33's on there with stock gears than I think that is probably your biggest problem. I went from stock to 31's and a 3". It was a day and night difference in MPG. I then regeared it to 4.10's and it about back to normal, and has much more power now. All the other things such as seafoam will affect it too. I think the biggest factor is the gears though.

Good luck!!!

well your jeep is trying to push the bigger tires at the same rate that it does with stock tires. so your gears, motor, and trans have to work harder witch means less mpg.change to 4:11 gears it might be better for you

This might be the right time to advise you that unless the engine is out of tune, or running "pourly" you'd be best served to save your money and spend it on gas.
