Default Is it possible to swap a 95 4.0 to a 97



the 1997red cherokee xj has a blown 4.0 i have a strong 4.0 out of a 95 cherokee same everything but been told it wont work as the years are not compatible

Don't listen to that crap. It will swap. Use your fuel injection parts, flexplate/flywheel etc and you'll be fine.

Are your sure it is a 97? Those both are the 96 and older body style, the engines will swap either way.

Nope. The red is a 97. The blocks swap.

That sure doesn't look like a 97 unless they swapped in an older front clip, badges and taillights.

Up through 99, regardless of body style, that stuff was and is interchangeable.

I find it funny that people on a Cherokee forum can't tell the difference between a 97+ and 96 and down Cherokee. It takes me 5 seconds to figure it out. Unless y'all are just trolling.
