i had a mechanic say i had a rear main seal leak but i don't think he dug to deep into checking if it was that or from somewhere else.
i was down there doing breaks today and thought i'd snap a few pictures, it seems to be a very slow leak i don't know how long its been happening or if its something new.
i notice one spot that seemed to have a gap in it but there was no bolts or holes that i noticed where something was missing.

Before you start thinking about the rear main seal. Check out your valve cover, oil filter adapter and the distributor for oil leaks. These can look like it's the rear main because all the oil will run down the back of the engine. You should try cleaning everything up as best as you can and keep inspecting these areas to make sure.

to be honest i am not sure i even have a leak
i've yet to see one drop on the driveway
i think it was spilled oil from an oil change.
i am going to clean everything up and just keep an eye on the fluid lvls and see the spots where oil is currently at.

THIS
I had an oil leak so I replaced my valve cover gasket, it was fixed. then it came back so I did crank seal and oil pan gasket, (fixed leaking from the front but still leaking it the back) it drove me crazy trying to figure out what it was, THEN IT HIT ME. I realized I added a qt of oil every hundred miles or so and i had spilled some every time!
so I cleaned it all up and got a funnel(haha) NO MORE LEAK
haha this could be your cause but it looked exactly like this and no drops on driveway

my main concernt is in the first photo
the metal cover seems to sit flush on the case of the transmission?
but you can see there is a gap on the one side.
there is no bolts missing that i could see or feel and there wasn't anything leaking there.
tomorrow when i get some rags to clean everything up and then i can keep checking everything every few days.
going to grab a big piece of cardboard from work and park over it nightly. and pick it up when i leave for work and then put it back and see if anything is revealed.

great that bothered me and i really couldn't see the other side very well, don't recall if it was blocked from view or the light made it hard to see it.

well two weeks later and i've not had to top up the oil at all, still seems to be at the same lvl it was after he said i had a leak and i filled it up the rest of the way.
still don't see any drops or leaks anywhere. and i've not been able to get under the vehicle to clean it up very well, plan on doing it on my next days off as well as putting the rest of my panels back on in the back.
i've not put in the leak seal yet because i wanted to see or determine if there was a leak. i guess it wouldn't hurt to put it in anyways or would it?
i'll wait another week or so and if nothing changes then i'll contact a new mechanic to see about replacing the evaporator and heater core and then maybe get my headliner redone
