Default Possible heat issue ?

Hey guys, I've noticed that now that it's warmer out my XJ is running at 220 instead of dead middle like its always has. Also I started it one day and the temp gauge went all the way up, gauges light came on and a minute later it went back to normal and the light went off. I have no idea what that could've been. I bought a new thermostat and rad cap and am going to do a coolant flush this weekend although the coolant is still a nice green color. Should I do anything else and should I worry about that weird occurrence ?

Sounds like an electrical grimlin (rapid gauge swing).....check connectors, grounds, etc.
