Default Is it possible to get a leak on this part of the axle?

the bottom portion of the diff is pretty oily,so I'm trying to figure out whether it's the cover gasket that's the issue or this part of the axle. It looks like it's coming from this part of the axle, and it looks like there's some sort of joint right there. I have no clue if there's a seal in there or something. I'm new to all this,so bear with me please.

Check that your vent valve's not clogged.

Should be a rubber hose coming off the top of the axle tube. The valve is on the end of it. Might want to remove the hose and check for blockage in the hose, valve, and where it connects to the axle. I recently fixed one on a Durango that was causing pressure to build and fluid to blow out the rubber filler stop on the cover.

Check the fluid level in the rear also.

Ok I'll check it out. For the rubber fill plug,is that on the cover, and will I be able to reuse that when I take it out?

Yep,providing of course that the plug is in good shape. With the vehicle level add lube until it just starts to come out of the hole.
