Default Possible..?

After careful consideration of lifts, tires and other expensive jeep items, I found out that I really shouldn't be spending too much. I also figured, why not get a smaller lift and then upgrade as I see needed.

So my questions are...

Are blocks or lift blocks good or bad? Why?
I was looking at rocky-roads BB's and they have a 3" for about 150 dollars. It includes shackles and blocks. If I did happen to buy this lift, is it at all possible to add another 2 inches using spacers/coils? (I think).

If this were the case, could I possibly get 5" of lift? I'm just looking for the most inexpensive way to get at least 5-5.25 inches and was wondering if this could be done?

Just moving this here as I didn't really get an answer in the last section.

And yeah, this has probably been answered.

I don't know if this is a dangerous setup or can even work. Thanks.

Oh also if anyone has used/purchased from rocky-road.

So my questions are...

Are blocks or lift blocks good or bad? Why? They add leverage to the axle when torque is applied causing axle wrap which bends the leaf springs and can cause binding issues as well as break your leaf springs.

If I did happen to buy this lift, is it at all possible to add another 2 inches using spacers/coils? (I think). The kit should include coil spring spacers. Shackles and blocks are only for the rear. You could later combine the coil spacers and block/shackles with lift coils and lift leaf springs to get more lift.

If this were the case, could I possibly get 5" of lift? I'm just looking for the most inexpensive way to get at least 5-5.25 inches and was wondering if this could be done? 2-3" budget lift (coil spacers-block/shackles) for now then combine with 2-3" lift coil springs and 2-3" full leaf packs later.

How about if I did this...

3" RC then added some 2" coil spacers and 2" shackles? I would get 5" about and would this be a decent setup for offroading? By decent I mean safe.. I've heard of people doing this for some extra lift. Any flaws with the setup?

Because honestly, rocky road makes it look like the 2" BB sits really high compared to a stock. But if the blocks arent worth it and will most likely fail in the end, why bother.

I also prefer RC as I've spoken to Jason.

I've read you can get coil spacers and shackles for really cheap on ebay or at a nearby shop.

i did 3" AAL kit with 2" spacers and shackles but you need to add an adjustable track bar and it works great

I was just on the teraflex website and I only saw 1.5" shackles. Maybe those get to 2"? Dunno.

You are going to end up spending a lot of money trying to cobble your way to 5". Above 3" you need new LCA's, a new track bar, brakeline extensions, a SYE, new drive shaft. this is the basic list. Keep it stock, save your money get the right stuff the first time. If' you have inchitis, get some coil spacers from DPG off road, buy some stock leaves and make our own custom leaf pack. search naxja or JU for Rockliz BB. That will get you a safe start for a little cash.

hes right i forgot about control arms, you can use stock ones with drop brackets but those are 200 bucks, you wont need an sye for only 5" tho just a TC drop of 3/4" to 1" depends on what style TC you have, 96+ you only need 3/4" cuz of the tailshaft design. and about the shackles and spacers, rough country has an ebay store that sells 2" shackles and spacers together for like 80 bucks
IMO your better off saving for a 6.5" kit
hope that helps

I figured out I'm probably gonna go with a 4.5" IRO with some 1.5" shackles. They have the 3.5" with full leafs and it's 50 dollars less, mine as well go 4.5". I guess it is better to not go the cheap way. Better start saving money then..

A second question would be, can I fit 33's on a 5" lift without trimming?

Must I re-gear with 33's?

I have a 1998 by the way. If it matters.
