I have a 1991 r12 compressor that I salvaged and am installing in my vehicle. I put the r134a conversion kit on it and now I want to vacuum it out. I think I should use the low pressure port to vacuum out of but I am not sure. Advice and any additional tips would be great. Are there any guides on replacing an a/c compressor?

I believe you need to know how many ounces of oil your particular system requires. Too much oil, it won't cool properly, too little oil could be disastrous.

Vac from the low side, be sure to add oil back in I usually put 4oz in the compressor and 4oz in the accumilator. Make sure you replace the orifice tube as well and you should be good to go.

What orifice tube are you talking about? These have a TXV for a metering device. And vacuum on the low side. Both if you can by setting up a set of gauges.
