Well I got underneath her, tightend down all the tie rod ends, disconnected the track bar & readjusted it (P.I.T.A) greased all the fittings and U joints all in 97 degree Tucson AZ heat. And the popping is still there. I'm thinking control arms, bushings don't look so good, they're stock. Guess its time to put more money away for her. I've always wanted adjustables. Gonna do some internet window shopping. If anyone can add to the elimination process please do.

do you have flex joints at all on your control arms becuase they might be bad or if you can adjust the preload i bet thats what it is. when i put my rustys long arms on i had the same problem and mine were adjustable to i just tightened them up and it went away

Worn-out front axle shaft u-joints make nasty popping sounds while in a slow rolling turn, regardless of whether your Jeep is in 2 or 4 wheel drive. Greasable u-joints are NOT recommended.

My jeep was making a similar noise a while back, I tightened my track bar bracket and that stopped the noise , lift your front end on jackstands and turn the wheel to see if it only makes the noise with weight on the wheels that should help you rule out some stuff, and try getting a friend to turn the wheel while you safely feel around for any popping.

Well the rattling sound i'm hearing is my upper left control arm. Yet to see whats wrong with it until i have time. It may also be the source of my popping sound but I'll see and let you know. Thanks
