popping/cracking noise

Default popping/cracking noise

when i start my 95 cherokee it has this extremely loud cracking noise and is constant. sounds terrible like something is being crushed. its coming from here....at the bottom . here is a closer picit is perfectly attached, but once started it wiggles side to side pretty bad. anyone know how to fix it???

Your pics aren't working, just describe where its coming from. First thing I think of when someone says "popping and cracking" I think bearings.

its under the the belt towards the very front end from under the hood. ill try again

Front axle or in the motor? Theres nothing under the belt and a whole lot under the hood, which is all towards the front.

Gotta ask the simple question, is it in 4wd?

Does it make noise while parked and running, or when your moving?

Does it make noise while turning?

Is your motor running normally?

Can you narrow it down to one part?

Shoot these answers back and we'll have something to work with.

Use the manage attachments button below and just add it from your computer to the site that way. Check your water pump too. loosen the belt some and see if you have play on the water pump pulley. I had this problem. I thought it was the rod bearings but its was the pump.

sorry im a total newb and idk part names or anything.

2wd

running and parked

it is constantly making the noise from the second i turn the engine on

the motor seems to be running normal but it all just happened today

this sounds super embarassing to say cuz it shows how little i know but its to the right of the big fan
