Default Popping/Clunking Noise in 4wd, transfer case?

I got stuck the other night and putting it in 4wd and 4-lo and gassing it out i kept getting a nasty popping noise. Now i have heard this noise going up dirt hills in 4wd before but never this bad or as many times. It would pop/clunk pretty loud about 5-6 times every time i gassed it.

My guess its the t-case chain. Just want to know what else i should check, and all of the u-joints are fine.

BTW its the NP242

Thanks,
Mike

What would be wrong with the front diff if it is that?

and it does sound like its coming from under the middle of the truck.
