Under hard accelleration..in 4 WD only...I get a loud pop/pop/pop coming from the front of the vehicle... been told it was a loose xfer case chain, but I just don't buy that, also 2nd opinions are always best before diving into a repair project half cocked.....I did replace the front driveshaft with a JY jewel... could one of the u-joints in the double cardan section of the D/S be bad and causing the blinding which turns into said pop??? Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated....

try pulling the front shaft out and seeing if the noise is still there, and while its out feel all the u joints

First thing that comes to mind is ujoints on the axle or the double cardan joint on the ds, I would start by checking them out, if you think its the shaft, swap it out with another and test it again.
