Haha this thread gave me a good laugh.

But to the OP popping is indicative of worn out door check and the hinges and pins that hold the door check to the door. New door checks are kind of expensive, $70 online. You could try tapping out the hinge pin and buying some new door check pins from the auto parts store and see if this corrects it. Another alternative is to pull the parts off a "quiet" door at the local pick and pull. Either side front doors work.

I haven't found a single xj that didn't have the pooping sound when you open the doors. I don't see a problem here. Lol

pop POP. thats how my drivers door sounds. pass side the check arm is missing. no pops on that side, but the door will just swing freely, which is rough on the already known weak hinges when the wind hits!

I hate you. lol.

I took the checks out of my 95 but then the doors would just flop all over the place which is equally annoying. But they will be gone from my 00 when I make it door less this summer!

I'm pretty sure my zj passed gas when opening the drivers door too. Lol

replaced the pins in the door stops with bolts with a nut and lock nut that fit reeeeally tight through the hole. I dont have door stops, I just catch my door before gravity breaks it off.

I probably should do that since one of my hinges is ripping away from the jeep on the drivers side
