The EXT IDLE system is becoming obselete, as the electronics are becoming much less demanding on a battery. Lights used to be halogen bulbs attached to rotating motors, and all the strobes were a nice draw. Now, everythings LED which is about 10% of the the draw of a halogen system. As far as other electronics, it's just a radar unit and a computer, depending on if the department uses them.

 

I always assumed the more draw from the alternator = the more tension it gives off, forcing the engine to make up the difference and rev up automatically...

Unless that is only in newer cars because I jumped my brothers car with a 2007 Honda Civic and as soon as he started cranking his car, my Honda revved up.

 

I helped do a 3 inch lift on a local volunteer FD's Cherokee. They wanted something that wasn't a land yacht for the incident commanders at field fires.

Pretty cool to see it afterwards parked in their station...
