My friend was telling me the other day that there used to be police cherokees, with upgraded suspension, and even V8's swapped in. this seems pretty interesting and i wouldnt mind finding one for auction lol. anybody know anything about this? just curious

Highly doute there legit.

The only police Cherokee's to get V8's are the Grand Cherokee's..

There were Police optioned Cherokees but never saw one with a V8, but some heavier suspension and LSD and high output altenators and a fast idle curcuit for extended idleing.
Most had no carpet and vinyl seating. Some had a cage between front and rear seats. A large bright dome light and all were automatic equiped. Most had no center console and were column shift.

my first cherokee was a one the police county used here in colorado and it was just a stock 92 h.o. it did have the lsd in it but that was about all that was above the base package on it. i have family members who work for the county out here where all the police vehicles get maint. done on them and they have never seen one either.

So did the Michigan State Police, and out of the dozens of those I've seen used. I found one just retired that had a D44 front and rear axle..
