Po700
I get the Po700 check engine code on my 97 cherokee every time I hit passing gear, it never shows this code at any other use of my Jeep..! I know its a transmission code, and I've checked out the wiring and a couple other small things. I have not checked the modules inside the transmission. It is a 4 wheel drive with the auto trans. Any one who can possible help me solve this, I would greatly appreciate your knowledge and help.
P0700 is a generic code meaning the trans computer told the engine computer it's detected a problem. There should be another P07xx code indicating what the problem is. By passing gear, do you mean 4th gear, or the t/c locking up? Any shifting issues? This could be as something as simple as the NSS (aka the PRNDL, shifter position sensor) needs cleaned. What year, btw?
When I put the pedal to the metal, and it hits passing gear, which should mean its shifting into lower gear.. I don't have any problems with it shifting in normal use, nor does the tranny lock up.. ever. Its a 1997 jeep XJ 6 clinder automatic trans, 4 wheel drive. and after I clear the code, its goes back to normal operation, until I hit passing gear again then kit Showa up again..????
