Plug and play cluster swap?
Okay, really getting tired of my aftermarket heat gauge screwing up and telling me my jeep is running at 100 degrees, SO If I do the gauge cluster swap (i have the idiot lights) Will the tach and all work? If I could get a tach out of it then the cluser swap would be worth it to me, otherwise i'll just fix my aftermarket one.

It should all work as long as you put in the right sensors for the gauges,so swap the idiot light sensors for the needle gauge sensors.Tach will work as long as you have one already.

Hello. If you do the swap the tach will be working right away even if you don't have one with your original inst cluster. The only things that won't work right away are the temp guage and the oil pressure gauge. These will require changing the 2 sending units which are easy to swap as well. For me personally getting a voltmeter was the most important gain of the swap.

Cluster
I just change my instrument cluster out of my 96. It orginally had the OEM cluster with just a gas guage and speedo. I found a full cluster on Ebay for $28.00 which as the tach and all basic guages. It is completely plug compatiable from one to another. Be sure to match up the warning lights on the left side from the old to the new. Also, you much change the water and oil pressure sensors and they cost $35 for both at Orielly's. The change is a great upgrade.

Thanks guys, thats what i wanted to know. Guess i need to be on the lookout for a cluster to swap in then, gonna be REALLY nice to have a tach, actually never had on on any of the manual transmission vehicles i've owned....figured they'd be more useful in a 5 speed than a automatic.......guess chrysler doesnt think like i do
