So my ac started blowing plain air but the freon is good everything else is operating but I noticed this plug right below my ac accumulator. It's not plugged in and there's no where to if it in that I can see. Does anyone have any ideas? I'd rather know about the plug than the AC issue (unless related) seeing as its winter and I don't need to run AC. I'll deal with that later.

My '99 (similar to a '98) has no plug like that in that area. The only plug that's even close is gray and it plugs into the low pressure cycling switch on top of the accumulator.
You sure have a lot of strange mod wiring in that engine bay. Did the Jeep come that way when you bought it?
Is this a 2.5 liter engine? Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid connector is a two-pin connector.

the engine is listed in my post. 4.0
Yeah it came this way. They had dual e-fans with the rad moved forward and they also had a bunch of speakers and subs wired to auxiliary lights....
on the drivers side that I disconnected and tucked under the air box. That and this are the only wiring I felt out of place.

The only connector in that area that looks like that would be the underhood lamp/mercury switch connector. If it is the lamp connector the middle [pin] isn't a pin socket, it's a connector assembly clip. The underhood lamp connector would have pink and a black wires going to it.
My '99 connector is black but your year may be gray.
Do you have a underhood lamp? A lot of folks remove the lamp for reasons known only to them.

Step back a bit and take a pic of the firewall/hood in that area.
That 'green' pin socket looks like big time corrosion.

Thank you! Nice clean garaged Xj. To the OP sorry to jack but I didn't see why I should make a new thread for the same issue. That's it. Now what are those hoses with the white plugs in them. I have one of those too
