Default Please post photo of hatch sensor

Its 38* feels like 20, its misting rain, Im wet, cold, my hands are burning, and cut up and this Jeep is driving me up the friggin wall.

My battery is draining down and I think its coming from the rear hatch sensor. The display unit shows it open at random.

I got in there tonight and unplugged all the sensors but it still shows it as open. Now my interior lights wont go out. Right now the battery is disconnected.

I did a search and didnt find any pics. Can someone post a pic of what I should unplug to make the latch show closed? Link a drawing? Or is there a fuse I can pull? I didnt find any broken or rubbed wires.

I appreciate any help.

I believe you can pull the dome fuse to keep your dome lights off but when I did this on mine I lost my radio as well. Dont know if its different on yours or not since mine is an 89' and does not have this sensor. I ended up just removing my dome light bulbs but I dont think doing either one will get the display to go off sorry and best of luck to you.

What year is your's?
I have the same problem on my 98. But with mine the little dash light turns off when I turn the key off. Also my interior lights don't stay on. I removed removed the hatch locking mechanism and cleaned everything and all the wire connection. The dash light did go off for about 2 days and now it's back to the same thing. Now I have a piece of elect. tape over the red dash light until I can figure out what the heck the problem is.

Mine is a 97 Grand cherokee. My interior lights are hit and miss on if they stay on or not. The flashing hatch in the display and the beeping noise dont bother me. But the battery going dead is a problem. Especially now that its been completely dead twice in the last 1.5 weeks.

I left the battery unhooked and went out after I got off work. It fired right up no problem. I finally found the plug to disconnect the hatch sensor, I have it unplugged now. Going to let it sit a day or 2 and see if pulls down.

Should I put a jumper wire in the plug of the latch sensor or will it be ok?

While I was in there, the hatch didnt want to open. I greased up everything and its smooth as butter now.
