Default please help starting problem

hi all,

i bought a neglected 4.0 petrol 1995 cherokee the other day.
it didnt start when i got it so i bought a new battery and have been using it the last few days.
someone previously has fixed a wire from the earth of the starter relay to the body of the car for some reason so i replaced the starter relay yesterday.

today i went to start it and nothing. the lights all come on but there is no clicking no turning, just nothing.

i thought it must be the starter motor but someone mentioned the ignition switch.

help, what can i do? its stranded on a parking restricted road.

thanks
