Default Please help with har.balancer removal!

Dear lord, I'm on my second night trying to remove my harmonic balancer with no luck. 1990 4.0 auto. Rented puller from autozone. Am using without little cone piece, is that right or wrong? Used silver bolts to mount web thing and am rotating main bolt into damper center hole. Good god can it be this hard? It feels like ive turned as far as it will go. Is that normal, just keep wrenching? Thanks.

Idk if this is ok... But you could try to shoot some WD40 behind the balancer to try to un-seize it. If not, just keep turning it (make sure the tool don't break though) until it shows some give.

Are you using a breaker bar to twist the bolt?

no i did not remove the washer. I dont believe there was one there but I will remove the tool and double check. Now the cone wont fit inside the hole, is that still correct to use it? And thank you, love the forum. As a first time owner I will be a frequent user, lots of leaks to fix and maintenance to do!!!

Hello all, So Im attempting to reinstall with installer kit from AZ. Having trouble getting it to slide on far enough to get the adapter thru the washer and catch some threads. Lubed center of pulley with moly grease and attempted to lightly tap on with no luck. Pulley is a Dorman 594-018, i double checked and this one appears to fit 87 thru 2000 cherokees. There is a taper on the new one that looks a bit different than the one that came off. any ideas?
