Please help! 98 Cherokee will not idle/run cold
1998 jeep Cherokee with the 4.0 will not start while cold unless you keep your foot on the gas. You have to double foot it to go anywhere. After it warms up it starts and runs good.
I scanned it, even though the check engine light never comes on, and it showed no codes. I scanned the IAC valve and it looked ok but replaced it anyway. I have since cold started the jeep with no problems over 20 times in three days. The IAC motor seemed to have fixed the problem. It actually even added power.
Took it to the hunting camp and woke up to guide a youth duck hunt and it's doing the same thing all over again. Now I have to drive all the way back to my house & back out to repair this problem in the field.
What should I look for? What tools, extra parts, should I bring with me?
Could it be a faulty new IAC valve or the ECM or what? Fuel pressure was ok last I checked before I replaced IAC and thought i fixed the problem.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Check your PM inbox before you do anything else.
Checked all of the grounds for good connections at the following points:
Dipstick mounting bracket to Engine block.
Ignition Coil mounting bracket.
Cylinder Head bolt to fire wall
Although you stated that you had fuel pressure I'd suggest taking your gauge with you and recheck the the key on, your pressure should be 49+/-5 PSI.
If no pressure try changing the ASD Relay with another relay in the Power Distribution Center (PDC). You can also do the same with the fuel pump relay.

When my 4.0 takes longer to start in cold weather and runs ruff I use B12 injection cleaner to start with. At night time check spark plug wires for leakage and misfire. It takes about 3 tanks fill ups to tell if B12 is working.
