Please Help - 01 XJ 31" tires 4.5" Lift
Hi, Im new on here and I just got an red 01 Cherokee Sport 3 months ago and Im ready to lift it. I just ordered 31" Pro Comp Xtreme AT's and a 4.5" Rough Country lift. I have been looking everywhere online and I cannot find consistent photos of these specs. Some look fine and then there are some that look bad because there is so much room between the tire and fender. Could you please post some pics of with these size specs?
Also, if the lift looks too big, I may decide to go to 32's or go to a smaller lift. My biggest question is will I need to regear or get a bigger axle, if not what will my performance and gas milage be like? And will I have to trim?
Thanks,
Brett

If you go 32's with 4.5" lift you wont have to trim the fenders. You might want to think about re-gearing to 4.10's and your axles should be okay, but you're gonna wanna look for extended brake lines and new lower control arms. If you go 31's with a smaller lift, let's say right around 3", you don't need to re-gear, and you don't need to trim. You won't necessarily need new lower control arms, but you should get extended brake lines.
And with both scenarios you will need to have an alignment.

If this is your first Jeep, then do a lot of rersearch before purchasing parts. Once you start modifying anything, you never stop! It's a kind of domino effect... a small change in one area may require changes in another and so on it goes. Enjoy the Jeep, keep researching and learn as much as possible before you bust out the wallet.

dude go with the 4.5 and 32's if you dont wanna trim and 33's if you wanna trim 31's just look weird on a 4.5, i run 33x10.50x15 on stock gears and its fine (mines an automatic, if you have a stick regear!!!!) you can relocate your brake lines you dont NEED new ones

What do you plan on doing with the lift. If you don't plan on wheeling a lot then it is just personal preference, what is the look you are planning for. I am running 31's on a RE 4.5" lift and ended up doing just a little fender trimming. The RE lift will really flex in the rocks; if I had 32's I would have had to significantly more trimming. If I wasn't really wheeling much it would not have been a problem at all.
