Default Pioneer Radio Installation

My dad just got me a new Pioneer radio but I do not know how to install it. We have the kit to replace the stock radio and we also got 2 wire kits. The only thing I need help with is 1. do i need to install these wire kits or can I just plug it straight into the stock plugs? and 2. If I do need to install the wiring kits how would I do this? If anyone has pictures or step by step instructions it would be greatly appreciated. (P.S. sorry, i tried to search for other threads on this but none of them helped, so please don't complain that I need to search for threads instead of constantly posting them?

It's all pretty self explanitory, just don't use the orange dimmer circuit wire, do NOT just twist and tape the connections, and take your time.

Yea, i was going to connect the wires in a butt connector, but why shouldn't I connect the dimmer circuit wire? I'm only 16 and know absolutely nothing about wiring so all advice will be welcome.

Using the dimmer switch circuit with an aftermarket radio will blow the instrument panel and marker light fuse.

Okay the first thing you need to do is get a plug that goes into the stock harness, it gives you all the wires to work with and makes your stock radio reuseable if you need/want it. What it does is plugs into the stock harness and gives you all the wires you need to connect the radio and actually makes installing the radio easier as you have longer wires to work with. Hooking up the radio is really simple, you basically just match up the wires. And if you cant figure it out then just go to http://www.crutchfield.com/S-nDDTCZRIME2/ and order an instruction manual. Although if you do some searching on the net im sure you can find a tutorial to do it

Good luck! its not that hard, i did my first having no idea how to do it, with no prior experience.....

Also, use some wire nuts, then tape around the wire nuts, it'll keep you from having a wire disconnect and makes things alot easier now and for future reasons

Thanks, I have the wiring harness for the stock wiring, it came with two plugs that look somewhat identical but one is gray and the other is black with different colored wires on each (by that i mean they don't have the same colored wires) I also have another harness that plugs into my radio that has the ground wires and a whole bunch of other ones. At first I thought this was going to be easy but now I'm confused. If I can't figure it out I'll just have my girlfriend's brother do it.

In this wiring kit, do you have one end that plugs into the back of the new head unit with some loose wires and then another one that has two plugs that match the factory harness? If so, you just connect the loose wires from the one that plugs into the new head unit to the ones that plug into the factory slots. A lot of kits are color coded so you can just match the wires. When I did mine (Also a Pioneer head unit), I ordered from Crutchfield and the kit was color coded and came with step by step instructions. Piece of cake. If I'm not clear on anything, you can PM me, I'm not thinking so great right now.

Just installed it this morning, it was much easier than I thought because I didn't know the wires were color coded and the dimmer, illumination, power antenna, and phone mute wires were not used so I didn't have to worry about connecting the dimmer and blowing a fuse. This is the first wiring job I have ever done so I am very happy I did it by myself. If anyone needs help with a radio give me a PM or contact me in some way.
