Just curious since everyone claims 210 is normal... This was after driving for 30 min at highway speeds. So wondering if I have a cooler t-stat in this thing. I just bought the Jeep about 2 months ago.

Looks good to me. Mine indicates even a hair cooler than that on average. Of course, I haven't installed the Mopar t-stat that I have sitting on my shelf and I have an aftermarket sending unit. So it probably could be a little better, but I'm ok with it as it is. If I find I need to replace the water pump, or the next time I'm going to flush the system, I'll throw the Mopar t-stat in while it's open and then I'd expect it to run a little closer to spec.

When I first put my latest 195f Mopar thermostat in the operating temperature was routinely at 195-199f. After about a year it gradually moved more to the 203-205 range. So I think yours looks fine.

Is that the gauge on your 96 XJ? Sure looks different than my 98. Yes, if the thermostat is a 195, your system should run at 195. Period!

Mine is usually around 215. Never above that. It seeks to fluctuate 15 degrees, so 200-215. When I service the cooling system nextweek, I'm replacing cap, t stat, a few hoses, flush heater core, and sending unit. I anticipate the temp to drop a bit. Probably a screwy sending unit. My 98 was the same
Looks ok to me. Normal is 210, but factory gauges are rarely right on the money. Last time i checked, my 97 read 210 on the nose after a long drive, but the code reader said 197.

Mine's only gone up to the first hash mark the past couple days; it's been about 20-30 degrees outside. Days above 50 the temp reads right where you're pictured. I wonder if the t-stat is acting up or if I've got something else going on...
