Picked up a 97 cherokee for $900...blown head gasket..
I picked up a 97 Cherokee Country 4wd for $900 this weekend. It has a blown head gasket which is no big deal. The jeep is in really good condition.
Ive been searching the net like crazy and Im not coming up with much. Ive been searching for a ported/polished head and cant seem to find any.
Im thinking I might have to resort to a home port/polish job. A friend of mine has a maching shop so Im thinking of having him mill the head down a little to increase the compression while Im at it.
Just thought I would do some worthwhile mods to it since I have to pull the head anyway.
Just wondering if anyone knows where I might find a ported/polished head. I know I could just take it to a shop and have them do it ....but just thought Id check around first.

Thermostat went out this morning head gasket leaking oil.
It was 18 degrees this morning on my way to work and my XJ was over heating. Makes sense now but at the time I thought I could limp back home, big mistake. Really lucky the engine didn't seize.

For 900 bucks, here in Puerto Rico, the most u can get, is a 85', 2dr, 2wd, blown tranny, no registration and an old RUST, and I mean RUST bucket.
Anybody from PR can tell you that, I wish I can get a deal like that here.
If you r not happy, send it to me
