proper gears for your tire size.

bored out throttle body.

1999-up 4.0 intake manifold.

higher lb-rated injectors.

general maintenance/tune-up

TB spacers are WORTHLESS don't do it anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong.

cone filters are worthless in our jeeps...you aren't gonna get cold air through the intake, so why freaking bother. get a decent replacement aftermarket NON-OILED air-filter, or convert to a canister filter.

chips are worthless, don't waste your time with them.

I have a Jet chip, a slight gain but not worth the money.
I have TB Spacer, again slight gain, not worth the expense.
Cold air intake I like.
A good cat back exhaust works well.
Along with the others mentioned

not sure on injectors. for everything else, it's called a parts store.

TB needs to be bored at a machinest to 62mm

exhaust you can buy and do yourself, or you can have it built/installed.

too big of an exhaust is negative gain...you need some backpressure.

as said chip and spacer don't net enough game to justify $$$ spent. a TB spacer is worthless...it adds pretty much no volume to the intake.

buy a nice replacement filter at the parts store. don't buy a cone unless you buy a complete cold air kit, and frankly buying a cold air kit is worthless anyways.

yea go to an exhaust shop they will hook you up, and most of the time they sell you one cheaper than a cat back at a dealer, and the one they sell you will be installed..get new header, torque tube, and a cat back exhaust too.. lots of fun.. dont bother getting a cat tho, they bog everything down

for a 96 XJ your gonna need some 24lb Ford blue top injectors. I wouldnt do this mod untill you have atleast put on CAI ported TB and the 99+ intake manifold. by that time you should atleast have a Cat-back to even out the system.

And last but not least you should replace the cap, rotor, wires and plugs. and preform all your other basic maintance to insure the jeep is 100%

Cold air intake... CAI iuse a K&N Fipk i scored almost new for free.
http://www.strokedjeep.com/pictures.html is the ported TB i use/reccomend. (biggest gain i could really feel)
If you feel like spending the coin Borla is nice.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JEEP-...Q5fAccessories
Anything other than this header is a waste of Money...this thing is HUGE and built like a tank. If arnold swarts made one this thing would be it.

I bought some stuff from a guy who was puting his XJ back to stock and i got a awesome deal on it all. and sold everything i didnt want and kept the FIPK. Spacers wouldnt hurt but you can get a 99+ intake for what you would pay for a spacer. I would buy the header i sent you a link for it has a lifetime and is just as big/bigger than all the others. just has no chrome.

assuming it's the rig in your signature, you should have 4.56 with a 5 speed and 4.88's with an automatic.

4.10 puts you to factory ratio...and it's always best to go one gear set deeper.
